Suzanne Baboneau
Suzanne has worked in publishing for 45 years. She started her editorial career at Pan Books, then went to Hamish Hamilton before returning to Pan to work for the legendary publisher Sonny Mehta who broadened her reading tastes considerably across commercial and literary, fiction and non-fiction. Suzanne spent a decade at Pan Macmillan in a fully commissioning role, editing many authors including Wilbur Smith, Ken Follett and Lynda La Plante.
In 2000, she moved to Simon & Schuster UK to head up their burgeoning fiction list and became Managing Director of the Adult Publishing Division in 2013, retaining at the same time her commissioning role, predominantly in fiction, commercial and literary, and in the areas of narrative non-fiction and memoir. Authors on her list included Philippa Gregory, Tom Rob Smith, Rachel Hore, Ruth Ware, Nicci French, Richard Madeley, Ian McGuire, David Grann and Rupi Kaur.
Suzanne reads voraciously across many genres in the adult space, and is an obsessive listener to audio books. Working side by side with an author, especially those starting out, to help shape their work, giving guidance and confidence where needed, is her very first love in an industry where she has spent many happy and fulfilling decades.
